Day of Service

Our annual Day of Service benefits our local Witness and Service partners.  This year, we will gather at the church for breakfast before going to our various service sites.

9a           Divide into service teams
9a-12p   Serve at various service sites
12p        Clean up and depart service site

Places of Service:

• Friends of the Reedy River will lead the Reedy River cleanup and educate about river conservation.  We'll be removing trash, debris, and other organic matter from along the river to improve its ecosystem.  Tools will be provided by Friends of the Reedy River.  *Family friendly.
• Soteria is a reentry program for formerly incarcerated people.  They provide housing, education, employment, affirmation, and advocacy services to help them transition back into society.  We'll be landscaping, mulching beds, clearing debris, and doing other home improvement projects at their affordable rental properties on S. Vance St.
• World Relief Upstate is an organization that supports refugee resettlement in the upstate area.  This will be a service-learning oriented site, with opportunities to learn about the work of World Relief, hear from a refugee family, engage in a refugee simulation, and pack home education kits for refugee families.  We are encouraging our 4th graders to attend this site as their 4th Grade Service milestone because there will be opportunities to learn and serve.
